How SMG Autoricambi runs sales, stock & purchasing as one order-to-ship flow
Every sale kicked off a manual scramble. Check stock in one place, raise purchase orders in another, track shipping somewhere else, with no single view of orders, inventory, suppliers, or customers.
Custom build
Quick, on point, and they understood my business requirements from the start. I’ll always work with SCU.
The challenge
SMG Autoricambi sells automotive parts, and every order ran through a chain of disconnected steps. A sale came in, someone checked stock, someone else raised a purchase order if it wasn’t available, and shipping was tracked separately. Nothing tied it together.
- Sales, stock, and purchasing lived apart
Orders, inventory, and supplier POs were tracked in different places, so a single order's true status was never in one view.
- No link between a sale and sourcing
When a part wasn't in stock, raising the purchase order, tracking it, and tying it back to the waiting customer was all manual.
- No visibility or analytics
Phases, statuses, customers, and performance lived in people's heads and spreadsheets, not in a system anyone could query.
How we built it
We built David one system for the entire journey, from the customer sale, to finding the part in stock or raising a purchase order, to shipping it out, with every order, supplier, customer, and number in one place.
- Sales orders as the entry point: every customer order starts here, with its items, customer, value, and a clear phase and status.
- Inventory check built in: if the part is in stock it's reserved and picked; if not, a purchase order is raised automatically and linked to the waiting order.
- Purchase orders & suppliers: incoming stock is tracked against the sales orders depending on it, so nothing arrives unaccounted for.
- Shipment tracking & phases: every order moves through clear phases (sourcing, picking, packing, shipped), with status visible end to end.
- Customers & analytics: customer records plus live dashboards on sales, fulfillment, stock levels, and lead times.
